“A fantastic experience and a beautiful home!”
When Tracey and Tanner Toney decided to build a log home for their primary residents, they found it to be “A rollercoaster of decision making which ended in a fantastic experience and a beautiful home!” Here’s what Tracey and Tanner have to say about building their Northeastern Log Home:
“A log home has a woodsy, comfy atmosphere, and it is something that we both always wanted. When we first started looking, we weren’t sure who to use. But after doing some browsing around the Internet and visiting a few different companies, Northeastern seemed to be the best fit for what we wanted in a log home. As first time home buyers, we were most impressed with the company’s attention to detail and Northeastern’s capability to change the original design to what we wanted.
First we went to the Maine facility to view the model log home, which was beautiful. We then reviewed the different types of log homes in Northeastern’s Portfolio of Homes and, based on our cost ability and interest in design, we chose the Kingston. We have a family of five and that was the perfect size without being too large or too small.
Once we chose our model, it took about two months for the factory to ship us all the materials to build the home. We were most impressed when the materials actually arrived. It was the neatest thing to see all the wood that eventually would turn into our home. At first it seemed like there wouldn’t be enough to build the home, but once it all came together, we were impressed!
We hired our own contractor, Steve Hopko, to build the home for us. It took about two months for it to be built. Then, to save a little bit of money, we did a lot of the interior work ourselves. After hiring our own builder, electrician, concrete builders, etc., our house was habitable in November 2009.
Our home is comfortable and cozy. We would definitely recommend Northeastern Log Homes. We would make sure to tell them to look at the different models to see what fits them best and to consider doing some work themselves if they couldn’t afford to hire a builder.
We always get compliments regarding the loft area and cathedral ceiling. The bedrooms are a decent size and are always complimented. People really like the fireplace, which we actually built ourselves out of stone. The porch overlooks a pond, which is another characteristic that gets complimented.
We both worked very hard to accomplish our goal and are satisfied that we went with Northeastern Log Homes. Truly, the whole house is fantastic.”
